Barcelona defender will be available to face Real Betis after minor knock vs Galatasaray

According to a report by Barca Universal on Wednesday October 14, 2026, Barcelona defender Eric Garcia is expected to be available for Saturday’s La Liga clash against Real Betis despite picking up a minor knock during the Catalan side’s 4-1 Champions League victory over Galatasaray.

The Spanish international endured a challenging start to Tuesday’s encounter, struggling to contain Rafael Leao, who reportedly troubled him with his pace and dribbling ability. The Portuguese winger also played a part in Galatasaray’s opening goal.

However, Garcia gradually improved as the game progressed, helping Barcelona regain control before the visitors secured an impressive victory.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the defender finished the match with a knock and swelling just below his right knee following a challenge involving Leao.

Speaking after the game, Garcia played down the incident, joking that it was a little gift he was taking home from Türkiye.

“It is a knock from a challenge involving Leao,” the Barcelona defender explained.

Garcia was later seen icing the affected area, but the injury is not considered serious, meaning he is expected to be available for the meeting with Real Betis unless there are unexpected complications.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick will nevertheless have to decide whether to include the versatile defender or give him additional rest ahead of the club’s upcoming Champions League fixture against Paris Saint-Germain.

Garcia’s availability would provide Barcelona with another defensive option as they look to maintain their strong start to the 2026/27 campaign.

The Catalans are scheduled to face Real Betis at Estadio de La Cartuja on Saturday, with Flick’s side aiming to secure another important league victory.

Although Garcia’s knock does not appear to be a major concern, Barcelona will be keen to manage his fitness carefully as they prepare for a demanding run of fixtures.
