Arsenal Star Makes Huge Quadruple Claim After Champions Win Over Lille

According to a report by London Evening Standard on Wednesday October 14, 2026, Mikel Merino has declared that Arsenal can win the quadruple this season after their impressive 3-0 Champions League victory over Lille at the Emirates Stadium.

The midfielder believes the Gunners have what it takes to compete for every major trophy following their progress last season.

Arsenal secured the victory on Tuesday night through goals from Jurrien Timber, Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka. The result extended their winning streak in the Champions League league phase to 14 consecutive matches.

Merino, who made only his second start of the season, praised the team’s achievements while stressing their determination to go further. Arsenal reached the Champions League final last season but lost to Paris Saint-Germain.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the midfielder described the team’s European run as remarkable. He acknowledged the difficulty of winning matches but insisted that the squad remains focused on its ambitions.

Merino also made it clear that winning multiple trophies is the target shared by the players, manager Mikel Arteta and supporters. When asked whether Arsenal could achieve the quadruple, he responded confidently.

He explained that coming close to success last season had strengthened the team’s belief. According to Merino, attention to detail and being ready at crucial moments will be essential to turning their ambitions into reality.

Meanwhile, Arteta praised his players for improving after the interval against Lille. The Arsenal manager admitted that his team struggled to produce enough quality in dangerous positions during the first half.

However, tactical adjustments at half-time helped the Gunners attack more effectively. Arteta was particularly pleased with the quality of their three goals and the teamwork involved in creating the chances.

Arsenal will now turn their attention to Sunday’s Premier League trip to Nottingham Forest. With their European campaign progressing strongly, Merino’s comments underline the club’s determination to challenge for silverware on every front this season.
