Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri and Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has visited the Nsawam Medium Security Prison, where former NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, is serving his 20-year jail term.

The visit happened on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, with constituency executives following him.

The visit also brought Annoh-Dompreh into contact with Chairman Wontumi, who is being held at the Nsawam prison facility.

The MP did not go empty-handed. He donated food items and other essential supplies to inmates at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison to support their welfare.

The donation included bags of rice, maize, gari, sugar, milk, bottled water and other food supplies to support the inmates’ feeding needs.

Annoh-Dompreh said it is part of his patriotic and humanitarian responsibility to people within his constituency. He said as their MP, he has a duty to assist them, even those in prison.

Chairman Wontumi was sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment after being convicted on six illegal mining-related charges.

Justice Audrey Kocuvie-Tay, presiding over the Criminal Division of the High Court, sentenced Chairman Wontumi to 20 years’ imprisonment after finding him guilty on all six charges in connection with the Samreboi concession.

He is now serving his term at Nsawam while facing other new charges in court.

Photos from the visit show the MP interacting with prison officers and inmates, sharing the food items and encouraging them.

Many Ghanaians are praising Annoh-Dompreh for remembering those in prison, including his own party man, in a difficult time.
