5 deadly Gojo Satoru fights in Jujutsu Kaisen where godhood turned into a curse, ranked
Satoru Gojo enters most of his fights already knowing the outcome. The Six Eyes and Limitless make almost every attack irrelevant before it lands, so the real tension usually comes from how the other side works around him rather than whether they can beat him outright.
That gap between what he can do and what everyone else has to live with is the thread running through the five battles below. Each one shows a different way the same overwhelming advantage became a practical problem for him, the people around him, or both.
Gege Akutami’s manga ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 5 March 2018 to 30 September 2024 and finished at 30 volumes. Viz Media handles the English release. The story follows Yuji Itadori, a high-school student who swallows one of Ryomen Sukuna’s fingers to save his friends and ends up sharing a body with the King of Curses.
Tokyo Jujutsu High takes him in under the supervision of Gojo, the strongest modern sorcerer, so that Yuji can eventually be executed once all the fingers are collected. Curses, which feed on negative human emotion, are the everyday threat, and jujutsu sorcerers are the people trained to exorcise them.
MAPPA produced the anime. Season 1 (24 episodes) aired from 3 October 2020 to 27 March 2021 under director Sunghoo Park. Season 2 (23 episodes) ran from 6 July to 28 December 2023 and covered the Hidden Inventory prequel and the Shibuya Incident under director Shota Goshozono. Season 3, titled The Culling Game: Part 1 (12 episodes), aired from 9 January to 27 March 2026.
Season 4, The Culling Game Part 2, was announced immediately after the Season 3 finale and is in production; no release window has been confirmed as of October 2026. The prequel film Jujutsu Kaisen 0 opened in Japan on 24 December 2021.
Japanese cast for the central roles includes Junya Enoki as Yuji, Yuma Uchida as Megumi Fushiguro, Asami Seto as Nobara Kugisaki, Yuichi Nakamura as Gojo, and Junichi Suwabe as Sukuna. The English dub uses Adam McArthur, Robbie Daymond, Anne Yatco, Kaiji Tang, and Ray Chase in those same parts.
Crunchyroll remains the primary streaming home for all three seasons and the film in most territories; Netflix and Hulu carry the complete run in the US and selected other regions.
This fight happens early, while Gojo is driving with Ijichi after a training session with Yuji. Jogo, a special-grade cursed spirit who controls volcanoes and fire, ambushes them with the explicit goal of killing Gojo. He has already been told that ordinary attacks will not work, yet he still tries.
Gojo keeps Infinity active, so Jogo’s lava and fire never make contact. He casually explains the technique while dodging, then uses Cursed Technique Reversal: Red to send Jogo flying.
When Jogo opens his own domain, Gojo simply leaves, returns with Yuji, and finishes the exchange by opening Unlimited Void for a few seconds.
Jogo is paralysed by the information overload and has to be pulled out by his allies. The entire sequence lasts a few minutes and ends with Jogo barely alive.
At the time it reads as a flex. Looking at the later story, it is also the moment the rest of the cast starts treating Gojo as a fixed environmental hazard rather than a combatant. The disaster curses and Kenjaku do not spend subsequent arcs trying to out-skill him.
They design entire operations around the assumption that he cannot be beaten in a straight fight. The godhood is real, but it also means every plan that involves him has to begin with “how do we remove him from the board” instead of “how do we win the exchange.”
The Shibuya Incident is built around one objective: seal Gojo. Jogo, Hanami, Choso, and Mahito, plus roughly a thousand transfigured humans, occupy the station and use civilians as both hostages and shields. Gojo arrives knowing the layout is a trap.
He still clears most of the immediate threats. He rips out Hanami’s eye stalks with his bare hands, kills the cursed spirit, and uses a 0.2-second domain expansion to stun the remaining special grades and the transfigured humans long enough to protect the civilians still inside. The fight is not competitive. The curses are buying time.
Kenjaku, in Geto’s body, activates the Prison Realm once Gojo is sufficiently occupied and the station is still full of people. The sealing succeeds.
Gojo spends the next stretch of the story inside the cube while the jujutsu world collapses around the absence. His power did not fail in the station. It simply made him the single highest-priority target, and the opposing side spent months preparing a tool that did not require beating him.
After the first encounter, Gojo heals himself with reverse cursed technique, something he realises on the brink of death. He confronts Toji again outside the Star Religious Group’s facility.
This time the gap is decisive. Gojo uses Red, then combines it with Blue to fire Hollow Purple for the first time. The attack erases half of Toji’s torso and ends the fight.
The victory is clean. It also marks the point where Gojo’s strength stops being something he shares with Geto and becomes something that separates them. Geto has already begun questioning the system after Riko Amanai’s death. Watching his closest friend return from a fatal wound and then casually delete the man who inflicted it accelerates the distance between them.
Gojo later describes himself as “the strongest,” and the line is accurate. It is also the start of a long stretch in which almost no one else can train beside him as an equal.
Toji has no cursed energy, which makes him difficult to track, and he carries the Inverted Spear of Heaven, a tool that nullifies techniques on contact. He studies Gojo’s habits, exhausts him with a swarm of cursed spirits, and strikes the moment Gojo drops Infinity to check on his allies. The spear goes through Gojo’s neck. Toji leaves him for dead and moves on to kill Riko.
Gojo survives by unlocking reverse cursed technique in the final moments and healing the wound from the inside. The fight is short and brutal, and it is the first time the series shows that Limitless is not an absolute barrier against every possible approach. Toji’s lack of cursed energy plus the specific tool is enough.
The awakening that follows makes Gojo stronger, but it also confirms that the people who want him removed will keep looking for the narrow conditions under which the barrier can be switched off. Being born with the Six Eyes does not remove the need for constant vigilance; it just raises the cost of any lapse.
After Gojo is unsealed, he and Sukuna (now using Megumi’s body and the Ten Shadows technique) agree to fight in an abandoned section of Shinjuku on 24 December. Gojo opens with a 200% Hollow Purple launched from a distance.
The battle then moves through repeated domain clashes, hand-to-hand exchanges, and multiple uses of reverse cursed technique on both sides. Gojo lands a Black Flash that briefly knocks Sukuna out and later destroys Mahoraga with another Hollow Purple.
Sukuna has been using Mahoraga’s adaptation process as a model. Once Mahoraga is gone, Gojo assumes the remaining threat to Infinity is low. Sukuna expands the target of his Dismantle so that the slash cuts the space itself rather than Gojo’s body.
The attack bisects Gojo. He dies. Later statements from the creator confirm that the usual Gojo would likely have sensed the incoming slash and avoided a fatal wound; the loss comes after prolonged high-output fighting and a moment of lowered guard once the obvious adapting threat has been removed.
This is the fight the earlier ones have been pointing toward. Infinity has made most attacks irrelevant for years. When Gojo finally meets an opponent who can force a sustained, high-level exchange, the habit of treating the barrier as sufficient still costs him the decisive moment. The godhood is real right up until it is not, and the cost is final.
These five fights do not diminish what Gojo can do. They simply show the practical results of being the permanent exception: every plan has to account for him, every ally has to measure themselves against an unreachable standard, and the one time the standard is truly tested, the accumulated habits of invulnerability still matter.
All three seasons of Jujutsu Kaisen and the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 film are available on Crunchyroll. Netflix and Hulu carry the full run in the US and selected other territories. Availability varies by region.
