The president expressed these views during a meeting with Lt. Gen. (retd.) Noman Mahmood, the first secretary-general of the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement, at the President’s House.

President Zardari expressed confidence that the agreement, signed on August 7 this year, would strengthen regional peace and stability through defense cooperation in accordance with the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law.

He said Pakistan remained committed to the peaceful resolution of conflicts and the promotion of regional and multilateral cooperation.
