Why Soludo, Adeleke and I Joined Tinubu’s Campaign Council Despite Party Differences — Wike

According to a report by Vanguard on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has explained why he and two opposition governors, Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State and Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, accepted appointments as coordinators in President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign council.

Wike, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said the decision to include politicians from other parties was intended to accommodate individuals willing to support Tinubu’s second-term ambition, irrespective of their political affiliations.

“My thinking is that the president, in his wisdom, said there are those who are not members of our political parties but have something to offer to his re-election, and it’s proper to accommodate them,” Wike said during a media parley in Abuja.

Under the revised campaign council arrangement, Wike will coordinate campaign activities in Rivers State and the FCT, while Soludo, a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), will oversee Anambra State. Adeleke, who was re-elected governor of Osun State under the Accord Party, will coordinate the campaign in his state.

Wike maintained that Tinubu’s re-election campaign should extend beyond the APC’s membership, bringing together politicians and supporters from different political backgrounds who are willing to work towards the President’s return to office.

He said the APC would serve as the platform for those supporting Tinubu’s re-election, regardless of their existing party affiliations.
