Travis Kelce in Hot Water for Controversial Move as He & Taylor Swift Are Hit with ‘Catastrophic’ Allegations

Another referenced Kelce’s wife, global pop icon Taylor Swift, saying, “It just astounds me how much she downgraded bc wtf is this man liking.”

In the aftermath, a source close to Kelce defended him and told Page Six that the Kansas City Chiefs player has “always been a massive fan of the show and he was supporting a friend.”

Still, he’s not completely off the hook, as Kelce and Swift are now facing backlash from their Ohio neighbors.

The Daily Mail recently reported that the NFL superstar and “Love Story” singer faced severe criticism at a village planning meeting on Tuesday, October 6. The newlyweds allegedly plan to build a six-foot fence and plant trees around their $5 million estate in Bratenahl, and their new neighbors are pushing back on the project.

The Daily Mail obtained transcripts from the meeting, where locals slammed the “absentee” couple for what they called a “tremendous blow” to the neighborhood’s “peace and quiet.”

The Bratenahl Architectural Review Board had already approved Swift and Kelce’s plans, but neighbors still voiced their concerns at the meeting. Katherine Bolton, who lives right next door to the power couple, claimed that planting trees along their shared sewage line could cause major issues.

Bolton went on to say she’s been in contact with Swift and Kelce’s attorney before revealing that she was “quoted a staggering $75,000 to line the pipes against tree roots.”

“Planting 50 evergreen trees just [10] feet from a 100-year-old clay sewer line is virtually guaranteed to cause severe root intrusion, pipe structural failure, and catastrophic sewer backups,” she explained at the meeting. “This applicant may decide to sell her house next year, maybe move on and buy another house. What am I going to do when I have 50 evergreen trees on my sewer line, and they’re gone? And I’m still living here in Bratenahl.”

Chuck Bauernschmidt, another one of Swift and Kelce’s neighbors, was also fiercely critical of their plans. He reportedly displayed photos of what he described as “the total clear cutting of the shrubbery and everything else.”

“It’s now ridiculous. All the trees are gone,” he added before noting the fence’s “spear-topped design” poses a threat to nearby deer.

Swift and Kelce received support from their planner, Jacob Kutz of Tiny Construction, who said the high-profile couple wants privacy and security. He also shared that they initially wanted an 8-foot fence around their lakefront mansion before choosing a shorter 6-foot one.

Kutz further argued that the football player and singer already made changes “just to show that [they’re] good neighbors,” including replacing a “broken section of their shared sewer and had the whole line jetted and cleaned.” They also added a gate for Bauernschmidt, as he felt “closed off.”

Even though the board approved the landscaping at the meeting, Swift and Kelce will have to present a third plan at a future meeting.
