Teen arrested in Bay Bridge shooting investigation

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A 19-year-old San Pablo man is facing an attempted murder charge following a shooting on the Bay Bridge last month, the California Highway Patrol announced Monday.

Authorities said the 19-year-old, identified as Olman Santiago Martinez-Aguilar, together with a 15-year-old Richmond boy, had been involved in a fight with another party in San Francisco on Sept. 26. After the altercation, the victims drove eastbound on Interstate 80 on the Bay Bridge, where the suspect teenagers allegedly followed them onto the freeway.

While both vehicles approached the Oakland toll plaza, a shooting occurred, and a victim passenger was struck in the leg, CHP said.

On the morning of Oct. 8, search warrants in connection with the shooting investigation were served at residences in San Pablo and Richmond. Martinez-Aguilar was arrested at his home and a firearm was recovered by detectives, according to authorities. The 15-year-old boy was already in custody in an unrelated case.

Martinez-Aguilar was booked into the Santa Rita Jail on suspicion of attempted murder and shooting at an occupied vehicle.
