Sammy Gyamfi Drops Big GoldBod Revelation, Predicts Gold Purchase and Export Record in 2026

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has expressed confidence that the organisation will meet its gold purchase and export targets for the current year, with the possibility of surpassing the figures recorded in 2025.

According to him, the organisation’s performance so far indicates that it is on course to achieve its objectives, raising expectations of another strong year for Ghana’s gold purchasing and export sector.

Gyamfi made the revelation while briefing Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on the operations and dealings of the GoldBod, where he highlighted the institution’s progress and its prospects for the remainder of the year.

This year, we are on track to meet our targets and possibly exceed our 2025 gold purchase and export figures, he stated.

His remarks suggest that GoldBod is optimistic about sustaining the momentum recorded in the previous year as Ghana continues to pursue strategies aimed at strengthening the gold sector and improving the management of the country’s mineral resources.

The anticipated performance could also have implications for Ghana’s foreign exchange earnings, given the importance of gold exports to the national economy. Gold remains one of the country’s major export commodities and a significant source of foreign currency.

The possibility of exceeding the 2025 figures would therefore represent an important development for the sector, particularly as the government seeks to maximise the benefits derived from the country’s natural resources.

Gyamfi’s briefing before the Public Accounts Committee also provided an opportunity for lawmakers to examine the organisation’s activities and seek clarification on matters relating to its operations.

The committee plays an important role in promoting accountability in the management of public resources by scrutinising the activities of public institutions and examining issues arising from their financial and operational dealings.

GoldBod’s performance and its ability to meet its stated targets are likely to remain matters of public interest, considering the institution’s role in Ghana’s gold purchasing and export arrangements.

However, the CEO’s projection will ultimately be measured against the final figures for the year, including the actual volumes of gold purchased and exported.

For now, Gyamfi’s assurance signals confidence within GoldBod that the organisation can maintain its performance and potentially surpass its previous achievements.

If the projection materialises, it could mark another significant milestone for the institution and reinforce expectations surrounding Ghana’s gold sector.
