Rider’s Fatal Fall Captured In Rollercoaster Souvenir Photo: REPORT

Mark Tanos October 13, 2026 6:33 AM ET October 13, 2026 6:33 AM ET Mark Tanos Font Size: A man fell to his death from a roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia on Monday, with his fatal fall reportedly captured in another rider’s souvenir photo.

The man died at the park, about 10 miles west of downtown Atlanta, CNN reported, citing Cobb County police. The incident injured several others, police said. Authorities have not released his name or age, and they have not said how he came off the ride.

Riders watched him fall, witnesses told WXIA. One of them said the fall turned up in a souvenir photo snapped during his own trip on Goliath.

Six Flags’ Goliath roller coaster climbs 200 feet, hits 70 mph, and runs for 210 seconds, according to the company’s website. Park officials have not confirmed the man fell from that ride. (RELATED: Man Enters Tiger Enclosure At Zoo, Gets Mauled To Death)

Six Flags Over Georgia reached for softer language. “We are deeply saddened by the guest incident at our park today. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the guest’s family, friends, and loved ones,” the park said in a statement, according to WXIA.

One guest has died and several others are injured after an incident on one of Six Flags Over Georgia’s roller coasters on Monday, officials have confirmed. While authorities did not give specifics about which roller coaster the incident involved, CBS News Atlanta cameras saw that the park’s Goliath ride had shut down, and guests were being evacuated from the ride’s largest hill via an emergency stairway. https://t.co/TN8NgyCNdx

Crews cleared the remaining riders off the coaster, aerial footage from WXIA showed.

Goliath has been tied to a death once before. A 45-year-old man rode it in July 2006, lost consciousness, and died of an apparent heart attack, according to the Associated Press (AP). Workers inspected the coaster and returned it to service.

The park carries a record of fatalities. The Batman ride killed a 17-year-old who climbed into a restricted area in 2008, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The same ride killed a groundskeeper in 2002 when a passenger’s leg struck him, the AP reported.

Monday’s death lands as Six Flags fends off questions about ride safety. The company shut its X2 coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California late last month, according to CNN. An investigation had linked that ride to more than a dozen serious injuries and at least two deaths. Two women suffered brain injuries days apart in July after riding X2.

Whether the man’s final seconds were really captured in a stranger’s souvenir photo, Six Flags has not said.
