Intermittent rain and light snowfall lower temperatures across mountainous areas
Rain continued in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Tuesday, while light snowfall in mountainous areas brought colder weather and eased the heat.
Intermittent rain was reported in Mansehra, Mardan, Charsadda, Swabi, Khyber, Haripur, Attock and Abbottabad. The rain also affected the tourist destinations of Kaghan, Naran, Besar and surrounding areas in Mansehra district. Snowfall in the mountains of the Kaghan Valley and at Babusar Top further lowered temperatures.
In Landi Kotal tehsil and surrounding areas of Khyber district, rain brought relief from the heat. Haripur also experienced colder weather as rain and icy winds swept through the area.
Rain was also reported in the Neelum and Leepa valleys of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, while light snowfall was recorded on higher mountain peaks. In Gilgit-Baltistan’s Nagar district, rain and snowfall in the mountains brought a further drop in temperatures.
The district administration advised residents to stay away from mud houses and avoid unnecessary travel.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said intermittent rain was expected to continue until October 15.
