Princess Eugenie has shared a special video of her husband cuddling their baby daughter to mark their eighth wedding anniversary.

Eugenie and husband Jack Brooksbank welcomed their third child, Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank, on August 3 in Lisbon, Portugal.

The princess shared the video on Instagram of Mr Brooksbank holding the newborn in his arms and rubbing her head as he rocked her from side to side.

In a touching post, she wrote: “Happy 8 years married my love. What you can’t hear in this video is Jack asking our daughter if she likes her head being massaged that way… so thoughtful, caring, and best Dada there is to our 3. Couldn’t have wished for a better partner.”

Eugenie revealed that her daughter’s name was a tribute to “three people we love and admire past and present”, including Adelaide’s late great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, and to reflect both English and Portuguese history – “two places we love and call home.”

Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen was Queen of the United Kingdom and of Hanover from 1830 to 1837 as the wife of King William IV.

It has not been confirmed who the name ‘Annina’ refers to, but Eugenie is friends with Countess Annina Bruges von Pfuel, a Bavarian costume designer, and attended her wedding to fellow aristocrat Caspar von Veltheim in 2024.

Adelaide’s birth was a rare occasion where a member of the British royal family has been born overseas, with Eugenie and her husband having a home and other connections in Portugal.

Eugenie and her husband married in 2018 at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. Their first child, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, was born in 2021 in London.

Their second child, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank, was born in 2023. Eugenie said that the pair, who she referred to as “Augie and Ernie”, are “already the best big brothers”.

The princess is no stranger to showing appreciation for her husband on her social media, as she posted a loving message on Father’s Day in June with pictures of Mr Brooksbank holding his sons’ hands.

She wrote: “Happy Father’s Day to the best there is.. chief child entertainer for besties wedding too. The boys couldn’t ask for a better Dada.”

Eugenie is the youngest daughter of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, and is currently 12th in line to the British throne.
