Poland has accused Russian intelligence of being behind an alleged sabotage attack on a Starlink facility in central Poland, after two Turkish nationals were detained in Germany over the September fire. Polish Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński said the suspects were responsible for the arson and would face charges related to sabotage and subversive activity allegedly carried out for a foreign intelligence service once transferred to Poland. Special Services Minister Tomasz Siemoniak went further, saying Warsaw had “no doubt” Russian services were behind the incident. The fire reportedly damaged the facility’s power system and backup generator. Polish authorities have examined whether the objective was to disrupt connectivity, including communications supporting Ukraine. Starlink has become important to Ukrainian battlefield communications since Russia’s 2022 invasion, while Poland has helped finance Ukraine’s access to the service. Russia denies broader Western allegations that Moscow is conducting a sabotage and hybrid-warfare campaign across Europe.
