Kofi Adams denies his driver absconded after World Cup

Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Iddie Adams has dismissed reports that his personal driver failed to return to Ghana after the World Cup, insisting that the driver is back in the country and continues to work with him.

Hon Adams said his driver personally drove him to the interview and described the claims about his alleged absence as false.

“My driver drove me for this interview. I have not recruited any other driver,” he said on Accra-based Asempa FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com

The minister explained that while some staff members travelled for the World Cup, his driver was not among those who failed to return as expected.

According to Adams, three staff members had not reported back to the ministry after the tournament.

“When we got back from the World Cup, the report I had was that three of our senior staff have not returned to the ministry,” he said.

Adams added that the ministry had initiated procedures to locate the missing staff members and address their continued absence.

He said they had tried to contact their next of kin, and that the ministry would take further administrative steps if the affected employees remained unreachable.

The minister maintained that the reports concerning his driver were inaccurate, stressing that he was surprised such claims had circulated despite the driver’s return.
