Picture: Antonio Muchave The father of a 16-year-old girl who was allegedly sexually groomed has asked police to investigate threats allegedly made by former deputy national police commissioner Shadrack Sibiya, saying he “knows what he is capable of”.

In an affidavit submitted to the Randburg magistrate’s court, the complainant, referred to as Mr M to protect the identity of his teenage daughter, said the alleged threats have left fearful.

“When I confronted him about my daughter’s allegations he became angry, stating that he knows me and my entire family. He has told me that he could harm me or wipe out my family,” the affidavit read.

“These statements have remained in my mind and are of significant risk for my life and constant fear. I know what Gen Sibiya is capable of, and I am asking the police to investigate the threats made by him.”

In his affidavit, Mr M didn’t specify what Sibiya is capable of.

The state alleges that between July and August, Sibiya had explicit communication with the teenager and asked her to send pornographic material of herself.

It is further alleged that in May, Sibiya raped an 18-year-old who had passed out due to being intoxicated.

Sibiya has denied the allegations, stating that the explicit material of the 16-year-old was sent to him by Mr M.

In relation to the rape accusation involving the 18-year-old, the 59-year-old Sibiya said that they had consensual sexual intercourse.
