“If We Give Him Another Chance, He Will Do More” – Yinka Quadri Declares Support For Tinubu
Veteran Yoruba actor Yinka Quadri has explained why President Bola Tinubu has his support ahead of the 2027 presidential election, citing the president’s longstanding financial assistance to Nollywood practitioners and his contributions to infrastructure development.
Speaking on the African A-List programme, Quadri said his support was not driven solely by personal benefits but by Tinubu’s history of helping members of the entertainment industry since his time as Lagos State governor.
“People do not understand it. It is not about what we want to eat. He has been taking care of those of us in the industry since he was the governor of Lagos,” he said.
The actor recalled how Tinubu reportedly paid the hospital bills of late comic actor Babatunde Omidina, popularly known as Baba Suwe, during his illness.
Quadri also recounted how Tinubu provided $25,000 to help repatriate the remains of actress Moji Olaiya from Canada following her death in 2017.
“When Moji Olaiya d+ed, I, Fathia Balogun, Yomi Fabiyi and others were trying to bring her back from abroad. We went to Bourdillon to seek financial support.
“He asked us for the cost and paid it. It was a total of $25,000,” Quadri said.
Beyond his experiences with the president, the veteran actor praised road projects in the South-West, particularly the Papalanto-Sagamu road and the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode route.
“I know it is not enough, but I praise him,” he said.
Quadri also highlighted pension payments and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as positive aspects of the Tinubu administration, expressing confidence that the president would do more if given another term.
