Ida Odinga Confronts Maurice Ogeta for Not Visiting Since Raila’s Death as Video Resurfaces

A video showing Ida Odinga questioning Maurice Ogeta over his absence from the Odinga family home since Raila Odinga’s death has resurfaced online, attracting renewed attention following the former bodyguard’s recent television interviews.

In the footage, Ida is seen addressing Ogeta during a visit by Gor Mahia officials and players to the family’s Karen residence. The team had visited to present trophies to the family in honour of Raila, who served as the club’s patron.

As Ogeta arrived with the delegation, Ida appeared to remind him that he had not visited the family since her husband’s death in October 2025.

“I thank God that Gor Mahia has finally brought you here,” Ida told him, according to a report by TUKO.

She went on to point out that Ogeta had been a constant presence beside Raila during his lifetime but had not returned to the family home after the burial.

Her remarks caught the attention of those present, with Raila’s daughter, Rosemary Odinga, also commenting that they now knew where to find Ogeta.

Raila Odinga Junior, meanwhile, appeared to encourage his mother to ease up on the former bodyguard as the exchange continued.

Ogeta had served as Raila’s personal bodyguard and aide for approximately 29 years, becoming one of the people closest to the former Prime Minister. His long service meant he witnessed many of Raila’s private moments and accompanied him through major political events and personal challenges.

The resurfaced video has attracted renewed interest because it comes shortly after Ogeta spoke to several television stations about his relationship with Raila, including the former leader’s final moments in India.

In those interviews, Ogeta described Raila as more than an employer, portraying him as a father figure and close friend. He also spoke emotionally about the difficulty of accepting his death.

During an earlier gathering at the Odinga family home, Ogeta broke down in tears while recounting how Raila collapsed during their usual morning walk in India on October 15, 2025.

His emotional account highlighted the personal impact of losing someone he had worked with for nearly three decades.

Although Ida’s remarks in the resurfaced clip drew attention to Ogeta’s absence, the video does not establish why he had stayed away from the family home after the burial. Ogeta has previously spoken about the emotional difficulty of coping with Raila’s death.

The exchange has therefore renewed public interest in the relationship between the Odinga family and the man who spent almost three decades protecting and accompanying the late former Prime Minister.
