I Resigned From Zenith Bank to Start a Cleaning Business — Wife of Akuapem North MP Sammy Awuku

Mary Anane Awuku, wife of Akuapem North Member of Parliament Sammy Awuku, has shared how she left a banking career to pursue her ambition of establishing a cleaning business.

Mary revealed that she resigned from Zenith Bank despite the stability and prestige associated with working in the banking sector. At the time, leaving a secure corporate position to venture into the cleaning industry was a significant decision, but she remained determined to follow her entrepreneurial aspirations.

“I resigned from Zenith Bank to start a cleaning business,” she said, reflecting on the decision that marked a turning point in her professional life.

According to Mary, her choice was motivated by her passion for entrepreneurship and her desire to build a business that could develop into a meaningful and sustainable venture. Although some people questioned why she would abandon a respected banking job for an industry they considered less prestigious, she refused to allow their doubts to discourage her.

She acknowledged that establishing a business from the ground up came with considerable difficulties. The process demanded patience, sacrifice, consistency and a willingness to persevere through uncertain periods. Nevertheless, she remained committed to her vision and continued working towards building a successful enterprise.

Mary also encouraged young people, particularly women, to pursue their ambitions without allowing fear or public criticism to dictate their career decisions. She emphasized that entrepreneurship requires courage, resilience and sustained effort, noting that success may take time but persistence can help turn an idea into reality.

Her experience has attracted positive reactions on social media, with supporters praising her willingness to leave a comfortable corporate position for an unconventional business path. Her journey has also contributed to wider discussions about professionals choosing entrepreneurship over traditional employment.

Mary’s story highlights the importance of personal conviction, determination and the willingness to pursue opportunities beyond established career paths.
