I Could Perform The Duties of PA, Nurse And Driver- Ogeta Says he Multitasked While Serving Raila

Maurice Ogeta, the longtime bodyguard of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has revealed how the Odinga family trusted him so much that he ended up performing multiple roles beyond his security duties.

Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV’s Seth Olale, Ogeta said his responsibilities went beyond protecting the former Prime Minister, as he could also perform the duties of a personal assistant (PA), a nurse and a driver whenever the need arose.

“I was his bodyguard, but the family trusted and overtrusted me to the point where I could perform the duties of a PA, a nurse, and a driver,” Ogeta said.

He explained that the trust extended to Mama Ida Odinga, who could allow him to drive Raila in the middle of the night, confident that he would take good care of her husband.

According to Ogeta, whenever he was entrusted with taking Raila somewhere, Mama Ida would give him a simple but important instruction.

“The only thing she would say: ‘Ogeta, take care of Jakom, make sure you are safe wherever you are going,’” he recalled.
