Govt seeks public opinion on renaming ‘Dakshina Kannada’

Mangaluru: The state govt has invited public feedback within 30 days of the State Gazette notification regarding its proposal to rename Dakshina Kannada district as ‘Mangaluru district’. In a notification issued on Oct 1, additional chief secretary (ACS, revenue department) Rajender Kumar Kataria stated that govt has received several representations from politicians, social thinkers, elders representing different religions and various organisations in Dakshina Kannada seeking a change in the district’s name.
