The decision follows disciplinary proceedings arising from Gold Stars’ 2-1 home defeat to Hearts of Oak on matchday two of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season in September.
The Disciplinary Committee found Mr. Adu guilty of accessing the the playing area. “Kwasi Adu had been sanctioned for entering the inner perimeter without authorisation and verbally assaulting match officials during the encounter.”
The committee further found him guilty of “making post-match comments about match officials that brought the game into disrepute,” reinforcing the association’s position on the conduct expected of club officials.
The three-match suspension takes immediate effect, while the GH¢10,000 fine must be paid within 14 days of notification of the decision.
The CEO has also been warned that any future misconduct could attract more severe sanctions.
In a separate but related decision, Bibiani Gold Stars FC have been fined GH¢5,000 for breaching matchday accreditation and access-control requirements by allowing their Chief Executive Officer to enter the inner perimeter without authorisation.
Explaining the basis for the sanction, the committee stated that the club had breached “matchday accreditation and access-control requirements” by permitting its Chief Executive Officer to enter the inner perimeter without authorisation.
The GH¢5,000 fine is also payable within 14 days of notification of the decision.
Gold Stars have been warned that any future misconduct could result in more severe punishment.
The combined financial penalties imposed on the club and its CEO amount to GH¢15,000, with Mr Adu additionally required to serve his three-match suspension.
The sanctions come as the GFA continues to enforce its disciplinary regulations governing the conduct of clubs, officials and other participants in domestic football.
The restrictions on access to the inner perimeter are intended to protect match officials and ensure that matches are conducted in an orderly environment.
The incident followed a disappointing afternoon for Gold Stars on September 13, who surrendered an early lead to lose 2-1 against Hearts of Oak at home at the Dun’s Park in Bibiani.
Kwame Poku put the hosts ahead, raising hopes of a positive result before Hearts mounted a second-half comeback to claim all three points.
Yaw Amankwah Baafi and Henry Kwaku Boateng scored two quick-fire goals within the opening 15 minutes of the second half to turn the contest in the visitors’ favour.
The defeat was the second consecutive defeat for the 2024-25 league champions, who have struggled to establish consistency during the opening weeks of the campaign.
Gold Stars have endured a difficult start to the 2026/27 season, recording just two victories in their first six league matches.
However, they returned to winning ways over the weekend with a 2-0 victory against Basake Holy Stars, offering some encouragement as they seek to improve their position in the league standings.
The latest disciplinary decisions present another challenge for the Bibiani-based club, with Adu set to miss three matches under the immediate suspension.
Gold Stars must now ensure compliance with the financial penalties and the GFA’s disciplinary requirements while working to improve their league form.
The warning issued to both Adu and the club also places them on notice that further breaches of the association’s regulations could lead to harsher sanctions.
