Ghana Water warns consumers over unauthorised changes in water use
Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has cautioned consumers against using their water connections for purposes other than those approved, warning that failure to notify the company of changes in usage category could attract penalties.
In a notice to consumers, the company said water services must be used strictly for their approved purposes in accordance with the Public Utilities Regulatory Commissionβs (PURC) L.I. 2413, 2020.
GWL urged customers whose water usage has changed to inform the company to ensure their accounts reflect the appropriate category.
The directive requires consumers to pay attention to the classification under which their water connections are registered, particularly when a change in use could affect the applicable category.
The warning applies to consumers whose water connections are registered for one purpose but are being used for another, making it important for customers to notify the company of relevant changes.
GWL did not specify in the notice the penalties consumers could face for failing to report changes in their water usage category.
