‘Getting messy’ : Lerato Kganyago’s husband Thami Ndlala behind bars, tried to run away from police

Businessman and socialite Thami Ndlala was arrested outside the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 12 October 2026.

He faces charges of intimidation and extortion connected to a dispute with model Blue Mbombo.

According to the Mail & Guardian, police officers arrested Ndlala near Court 20. He reportedly tried to run but was caught and taken away in a police vehicle.

Ndlala had been attending a hearing concerning a civil protection order sought by Mbombo. The matter was postponed until December.

The criminal case follows Mbombo’s allegations that Ndlala threatened, harassed and intimidated her.

Ndlala has denied the claims and said on social media the previous week that the charges had been dropped. His arrest appeared to contradict that statement.

Chris Molefi, the lawyer involved in the matter, said he had not been authorised to comment publicly.

“Our only option is to wait for an official public statement before we can proceed,” Molefi said.

News of the arrest prompted surprise and discussion online.

“Thami Ndlala getting arrested was not in my bingo cards!” wrote @KhayaSoww.

@me_net_1 noted that the protection-order hearing had been postponed to December, but the day ended with Ndlala’s arrest.

Other users also weighed in. @MsKMP2 commented that police had acted at the courthouse, while @mzansiclassics described the development as unexpected. @MoreTwoLyf remarked, “This is a married man, mind you.”

In a separate development previously reported by Briefly News, the Gauteng High Court ordered Mbombo to remove social media posts accusing Ndlala of harassment. Mbombo has alleged that Ndlala, who is married to Lerato Kganyago, made death threats against her and hired people to intimidate her.

Ndlala denies the allegations and is reportedly suing Mbombo for defamation.
