Four martyred in landmine explosion near LoC in Poonch
ISLAMABAD – Four youths were martyred in an accidental landmine explosion in Mandla Madarpur village near the Line of Control in Poonch.
A statement issued by the Directorate General Public Relations Office of Azad Jammu and Kashmir said the landmine was swept away from across the Indian side into Mandla Madarpur village near the Line of Control in Poonch.
According to initial reports, the four youths were repairing a water pipeline connected to a nearby spring as part of their daily routine work. As they reached the spot, a powerful explosion took place accidentally, martyring all four youths. The martyrs were identified as Faizan Sagheer, Ishtiaq, Asim Rafiq and Waqas Sharif. It is worth noting that the terrain near the Line of Control, the lack of clearly defined borders and the threat of landmines being swept away from the Indian side pose serious threats to civilians and livestock, often resulting in the tragic loss of precious human lives.
