Dog Attack: Chris brown accused of blocking efforts to recover $9m court award
American singer Chris Brown’s former housekeeper, Maria Avila, has asked a court to issue an arrest warrant for the singer, alleging that he has obstructed efforts to recover a $9 million judgment awarded to her over a dog attack at his Los Angeles home.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Avila alleged that Brown had failed to provide dates for a court appearance to examine his finances and identify assets that could be used to satisfy the judgment.
She also claimed that the singer had refused to arrange an appearance at which he would provide his bank records, adding that the financial information he had already submitted was incomplete.
Avila reportedly said the documents provided by Brown “calls into question the accuracy and completeness of [Chris’] disclosure with respect to payment sources associated with his ongoing tour”.
The former housekeeper was initially awarded $13 million following a jury trial. However, a judge later reduced the judgment to $9 million, which Avila accepted.
The lawsuit stemmed from a 2020 incident in which Avila said she was attacked by a dog while taking out rubbish at Brown’s property in Los Angeles.
The legal dispute has now shifted towards efforts to recover the money awarded to Avila, with her latest application seeking to compel Brown to provide further financial information.
However, the report did not indicate that the court had granted her request for an arrest warrant against the singer.
