In Preston, Nick and the team help 16-year-old Dan, who has spent the last three years in hospital after life-saving surgery to remove a brain tumour left him with complex disabilities. Although he’s been ready to leave for 18 months, the family home can’t meet his needs.

With mum, Julie, by Dan’s side in hospital and dad, Nigel, at home looking after their daughters Charlotte and Emily, the family has been living apart for years. The team takes on an ambitious build to transform their house so that Dan can finally come home and bring the family back together.
