Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has praised former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola for the influence he had on his game during his time at the club.

The Black Stars attacker joined the Sky Blues in January 2026 and has since established himself as an important member of the team. Semenyo secured a high-profile move during the winter transfer window following a series of impressive performances for fellow Premier League side AFC Bournemouth.

After arriving at the Etihad Stadium midway through the season, the former Bristol City forward played a key role in Manchester City’s campaign, helping the club secure both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup titles.

Speaking to UEFA TV, Semenyo credited Guardiola with playing an instrumental role in improving his understanding of the game and helping him adapt to life at one of the world’s biggest clubs.

“From day one [at Man City], I had to understand myself as a player. It’s understanding the pace of the game, when to slow, when to speed up, when to dribble. Pep [Guardiola] drilled that into me a lot and it’s helped. I feel I understand the game really well,” he said.

“That’s where journaling comes in because I’ve written all this down. Then I go back and tick it off,” he added.

“I’m playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world. We’re playing our best and I’m with star players, learning about myself every day,” he said.

The Ghana international has continued to make an impact for the Premier League giants this season, scoring two goals and providing three assists in eight appearances across competitions.
