Why I’ll Always Support Tinubu – Yinka Quadri

Veteran Nollywood actor, Yinka Quadri has explained why he supports President Bola Tinubu to serve another term, citing the president’s past financial assistance to members of the Yoruba movie industry and other interventions during his time as Lagos State governor.

Quadri made this known while appearing as a guest on the YouTube programme African A-List, where he recalled how Tinubu helped the late actors Baba Suwe and Moji Olaiya during their respective health and family emergencies.

“Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has been taking care of Nollywood Actors since he was the governor of Lagos State. When Baba Suwe was sick, Asiwaju settled all the hospital bills in Lagos and Abroad. When Moji Olaiya passed away and we wanted to bring her body to Nigeria, we approached him to give us $15,000 but he gave us $25,000. He always attended to our needs.

“He has fixed some major roads in the south west. Even though it is not enough but if the past presidents had been doing this, Nigeria would have been better. He pays pensioners their money on time and he has established school loans. If we give him another chance, he will do more’.”

Quadri also recounted how he led some of his colleagues, including Fathia Williams and Yomi Fabiyi, to Tinubu’s residence in Bourdillon, Lagos, following the death of actress Moji Olaiya in Canada in 2017.

The actor further described Tinubu as a longstanding supporter of entertainers, recalling that the president often jokingly referred to them as “Africa Magic people.”

He maintained that Tinubu had been helpful to members of the entertainment industry in Lagos, particularly when they approached him for assistance.

New Telegraph recalls that in June 2022, the actor shared a video of himself and other Yoruba movie stars declaring support for Tinubu. The group included Jide Kosoko, Fausat Balogun, Taiwo Hassan, Femi Adebayo, Faithia Williams, Saheed Balogun, Shola Kosoko and Eniola Ajao.

Also, in September 2026, the actor thanked the president and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for their support following the illness and death of fellow actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo.
