Who is Kojo Bamba? The man trending after the NPP Conference

According to report by Ghonetv on Monday 12, October 2026, Kojo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo Bamba, has attracted renewed public attention following his election as the First National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), marking a significant milestone in his political career.

Bamba secured 3,116 votes at the NPP National Delegates Conference held in Kumasi, according to the information provided. His victory placed him among the party’s top national executives after a competitive contest involving several candidates, including prominent party figure Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B.

His journey from working as an auto mechanic and participating in grassroots political activities to securing a senior position within the NPP’s national leadership has become a subject of interest among party supporters and political observers.

Bamba, whose official name is Kojo Fosu Boadu, is reported to have been born in the Ashanti Region in the late 1980s. Before becoming widely recognised in political circles, he reportedly worked as an auto mechanic.

His nickname, “Bamba,” is said to have originated from his association with a group of young political activists known as the “Bamba Boys.” The group was reportedly associated with the late Alhaji Moctar Musah Bamba, a former Member of Parliament for Wenchi East, who is said to have played a mentoring role in his early political development.

Over time, the nickname became the name by which he was widely identified within the NPP’s political network.

Bamba’s early political activities were also linked to Delta Force, a pro-NPP group that operated in the Ashanti Region. The group attracted national attention in March 2017 when some of its members stormed the office of the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, George Adjei, in protest against his appointment.

The incident generated widespread debate about political vigilantism, party-affiliated groups and public security. Bamba was reportedly arrested in connection with the incident, although the specific legal outcome of his case would require independent verification.

The controversy became part of the broader national discussion about the activities of political vigilante groups and the need to maintain law and order regardless of party affiliation.

Bamba’s subsequent involvement in the NPP’s formal organisational structures reportedly included an appointment as Deputy National Director of Operations for the party’s youth wing in 2018.

His election as First National Vice Chairman represents a major development in his political journey, reflecting his continued participation in the party’s internal politics.

As he assumes the new position, attention will focus on his contribution to strengthening party organisation, promoting unity among members and helping the NPP prepare for future electoral contests.

His rise illustrates the role grassroots mobilisation and internal party competition can play in shaping political careers in Ghana. However, the long-term significance of his new position will ultimately depend on his leadership, organisational effectiveness and ability to work with other party executives.
