What Chelsea offered Cole Palmer to convince him to sign new contract

According to a report by Chelsea Chronicle on Monday, 12 October 2026, Chelsea have secured Cole Palmer’s future after offering the England international a significant pay rise to convince him to sign a new contract until 2034.

Palmer has committed his future to Stamford Bridge after previously being linked with a potential departure amid reports of dissatisfaction last season.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder signed the new deal before Chelsea’s 5-1 Premier League victory over Bournemouth on Saturday, providing a major boost for head coach Xabi Alonso.

Journalist Simon Phillips reported on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that the club offered Palmer a significant increase in wages, which appears to have played an important role in convincing him to stay.

Palmer was already tied to a long-term contract, and Chelsea were reportedly unwilling to consider selling one of their most influential players. Club director Joe Shields was among those believed to be opposed to a potential departure.

The decision reflects Palmer’s importance to Chelsea’s plans as they seek to establish themselves among the Premier League’s leading sides.

The former Manchester City academy player has continued to contribute in attack this season.

He has scored two goals and provided three assists in six Premier League appearances, underlining his value to Alonso’s side.

Palmer is also part of an attacking unit featuring Joao Pedro and Morgan Rogers, who have made encouraging contributions since joining Chelsea.

Pedro scored twice in the victory over Bournemouth, while Rogers also found the net.

The latter has now scored four goals since arriving from Aston Villa during the summer transfer window.

Palmer’s contract extension gives Chelsea greater security over a player who has become central to their attacking ambitions.
