Vehicle licence disc price increases planned in province with the most drivers in South Africa

The Gauteng Department of Roads and Transport has published draft amendments to the Gauteng Provincial Road Traffic Regulations and proposed increasing vehicle registration and licence disc fees.MEC Kedibone Diale-Tlabela published the proposed changes for public comment in August 2026. The planned adjustments include a R12 increase to Gauteng’s vehicle registration fee.
