Trump set to rally in Georgia to support Collins in Senate race

(NewsNation) – President Trump will travel to Georgia on Friday to campaign for Republican Senate candidate Rep. Mike Collins, NewsNation has learned.

The Republican National Committee confirmed the president will travel to Georgia on Oct. 16 for a rally at the Dalton Municipal Airport in Whitfield County. This comes as recent polling shows Collins is fighting an uphill battle to unseat Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff in Georgia.

Decision Desk HQ polling data shows Ossoff leading 52 percent to 43 percent with less than a month until November’s midterm elections. Georgia is considered a must-win for Democrats in their quest to regain control of the Senate.

Ossoff, the only Democratic incumbent running for a Senate seat in a state Trump won in 2024, debated Collins last week. Both candidates used their allotted time to criticize each other’s family backgrounds and argue that their opponent was not fit to represent Georgia on Capitol Hill.

The president will also campaign for Republican gubernatorial nominee Rick Jackson, who is facing Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms, the former mayor of Atlanta. Jackson is leading that race 49 percent to 47 percent, according to DDHQ polling data.

Trump will also reportedly travel to Ohio and Montana this week as part of his red-state campaign push ahead of the midterms.
