‘Things may have changed’ – Pau Cubarsí talks facing Victor Osimhen again ahead of Galatasaray clash
According to a report by Barca Universal on Monday October 12, 2026, Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsí has spoken about facing Victor Osimhen again ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Galatasaray.
The Spanish centre-back previously came up against the Nigerian striker during Barcelona’s Champions League meeting with Napoli two years ago, when he was just 17 years old. Cubarsí impressed in that encounter and was named Man of the Match after helping to contain Osimhen.
However, the Barcelona defender knows their upcoming meeting could present a different challenge, with both players having developed since their last battle.
“We faced Osimhen a few years ago, and things may have changed,” Cubarsí said. “They’re a well-organized opponent, they’re playing at home, and he’s important; we’ll have to be wary of his attacks.”
He also praised Osimhen, describing him as one of the best strikers in the world, while stressing the need for Barcelona’s defence to remain focused throughout the game.
Galatasaray are expected to put Barcelona under intense pressure in front of their home supporters, with Osimhen likely to be a major attacking threat through his movement, aerial ability and runs behind the defence.
Cubarsí’s performance could therefore be crucial to Barcelona’s hopes of securing a positive result in Istanbul, as he prepares for another demanding battle against the Nigerian forward.
