Super Eagles Star Could Not Rescue Club From Sixth Successive League Defeat

According to a report by Football Italia on Monday, October 12, 2026, Super Eagles striker Akor Adams could not rescue Venezia from suffering their sixth Successive Serie A defeat after losing 3-1 to Atalanta.

The Nigerian international featured for Venezia as they continued their difficult start to the 2026/27 Italian top-flight campaign, with the latest defeat leaving them without a point after six league matches.

Atalanta made a flying start to the encounter, scoring twice within the opening seven minutes to put Venezia under immediate pressure.

Franck Kessié opened the scoring in the fourth minute before Nikola Krstović doubled the advantage three minutes later.

Krstović struck again in the 31st minute to complete his brace and extended Atalanta’s lead to three goals.

Venezia managed to reduce the deficit in the 37th minute through Antoine Hainaut, who headed home Richie Sagrado’s cross.

However, the goal proved insufficient to inspire a comeback as Atalanta held on to secure all three points.

The defeat extended Venezia’s losing run in the league to six matches, leaving them at the bottom of the Serie A table.

They remain the only team in the division yet to record a point this season.

For Adams, the result was another frustrating afternoon with his club as he continues his first season with Venezia following his move from Sevilla in the summer.

The striker, who has also represented Nigeria at senior international level, will now hope to help Venezia turn their fortunes around as they look to end their disappointing run of results in the Italian top flight.
