Rosemary’s National Costume triumph at Miss Global 2026

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA may not have secured a place in the final five at Miss Global 2026, but Rosemary Uisso certainly left the stage with something worth celebrating.

Her Best in National Costume victory was a reminder that, in pageantry, a crown is not the only way to make a statement. Sometimes, all it takes is gold, feathers, cultural pride and a woman who knows precisely how to command a room.

Designed by Romy Jay, Rosemary’s winning ensemble was a carnival spectacle anchored in a striking black-and-gold palette. The gold brought regal warmth and a sense of opulence, evoking the African sun and Tanzania’s mineral wealth, while black offered a powerful counterpoint, celebrating strength, beauty and identity.

Vibrant, multicoloured accents added another layer of visual excitement, echoing the national flag and the exuberance of traditional beadwork.

Then came the architecture of the costume. An enormous circular backpiece, crowned with towering feathers radiating outwards, transformed Rosemary into a walking spectacle.

Her matching feathered headdress added height and drama, while the intricately embellished bodysuit balanced the extravagant silhouette with detailed craftsmanship. It was part national pride, part carnival fantasy and entirely unapologetic.

But the costume was only half the story. Rosemary understood that an outfit of this magnitude demands more than a slow, graceful glide. She brought the feathers to life with energetic movements, playful dance steps and a radiant smile, stretching her arms wide to reveal the full wingspan.

Despite the apparent weight and complexity of the ensemble, she delivered her presentation with confidence, fluidity and infectious joy.

Her journey had already taken her through the Top 25 and into the Top 10, alongside contestants from countries including Thailand, South Africa, Venezuela, the Philippines and the United States. Although she did not advance to the final five, her costume performance gave Tanzania a moment of its own.

Even Xena Ramos, Miss Global 2025 fourth runner-up from the Philippines, could not resist the Tanzanian buzz. Reflecting on the atmosphere, she remarked:

“And once again, we cannot stop talking about Tanzania. Tanzania. Wow.” She also highlighted the fans’ energy and the importance of personality on the global stage.
