Ronaldo declares himself football’s most complete player

Cristiano Ronaldo has reaffirmed his belief that he is the most complete footballer in history, insisting that comparisons with legends such as Lionel Messi, Pelé and Diego Maradona should not diminish his achievements.

In an interview, the Al-Nassr forward acknowledged that football fans are entitled to favour different players but rejected suggestions that he lacks the qualities required to be considered a complete footballer.

“It’s a matter of taste for someone to love Messi, Pelé, or Maradona more, I understand and respect that,” Ronaldo was quoted as saying.

“But for someone to come out and say that Cristiano is not a ‘complete player’ is a lie. I am the most ‘complete’ player.”

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner also addressed the attention surrounding his pursuit of 1,000 career goals, expressing frustration that the milestone has become a major focus of discussions about his career.

Ronaldo argued that people should appreciate his current performances rather than concentrate exclusively on how many goals he has left to reach the landmark.

“People aren’t appreciating what I’m doing RIGHT NOW. They’re more concerned with how many goals I have left to reach 1,000,” he said.

The Portuguese superstar added that he does not want to place unnecessary pressure on himself to achieve the milestone, stressing that it should come naturally.

“Whether I score 920, 925 or 930 goals… I’m the greatest in history, period. When it comes to scoring goals, the numbers speak for themselves,” he said on CNN Portugal.

Ronaldo added that reaching 1,000 goals would be an achievement to celebrate, but insisted that it was not an obligation.

The former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus forward has built his legacy on extraordinary goalscoring records, sustained performances at the highest level and success in domestic and international football.

His rivalry with Messi has dominated discussions about the greatest player of all time for more than a decade, while Pelé and Maradona remain central figures in the debate because of their achievements and influence on the sport.
