Police plan to recruit 8,000, with professionals targeted for cadet roles

KAMPALA — The Uganda Police Force plans to take on about 8,000 new personnel, according to a senior police source. The intake would include 3,000 cadet officers drawn from university graduates with professional qualifications.The source said the other 5,000 places would fill gaps left by officers who have died, retired or deserted.
