“Our People Are No Longer Joining The Army, Police”- Soludo Urges Igbo Youths To Join Military
Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has called on Igbo youths to consider joining the Nigerian Army, Police and other security agencies, expressing concern over what he described as a growing reluctance among people from the region to enlist in security services.
Soludo made the appeal yesterday during the funeral ceremony of Lieutenant General Obiakor, where he spoke about the need for greater participation of people from Igbo land in the country’s security institutions.
“There is a phenomenon happening in Igbo land today. Our people are no longer joining the Army, Police or any other security forces,” the governor said.
He urged young people from the South-East to reconsider their stance and take up careers in the military and other security agencies.
The governor’s remarks highlighted his concern about the apparent decline in the participation of Igbo youths in security services and the need to encourage more of them to pursue such careers.
His appeal also drew attention to the importance of ensuring that people from every region of the country are represented in institutions responsible for maintaining national security.

@Cyril Ahuama:”During peace times, through a disproportionate quota system, Igbos were systematically denied enlistment into the NDA, which is a prelude to becoming a commissioned officer. Now, at “war times” you want them to be recruited to be sent to the theatres of war?”
