NPP warns parliamentary aspirants against early campaigning, threatens sanctions

The directive follows complaints received by the party’s leadership that some members seeking to contest parliamentary seats have begun campaigning in various constituencies.

In a statement dated October 11, 2026, and signed by its General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party said such activities violate its regulations and Code of Conduct.

According to the NPP, the conduct creates an uneven playing field and undermines the unity and discipline necessary for the party’s success.

The party has consequently ordered prospective aspirants to stop activities, including mounting posters, billboards and banners, organising rallies and polling station executive meetings, and conducting constituency tours to solicit support.

The NPP further warned party officers at the polling station, electoral area, constituency, regional and national levels, as well as the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON), against promoting any parliamentary aspirant on social media platforms or facilitating premature campaign activities.

It cautioned that individuals who fail to comply with the directive will face disciplinary action under the party’s established procedures, which could affect their eligibility to contest.

The party said it would announce the timetable and guidelines for its parliamentary processes in due course.
