This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen by Sam Onwuemeodo, Chief Press Secretary/Special Adviser on Media to Senator Rochas Okorocha.
According to him, “A video trended where Hon. Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, one of the media aides of Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, was the first to push out the story. From there, other media outfits, including ARISE TV, took it up.
“Those behind the story quoted a Senior Magistrate Court sitting in Abuja to have issued a bench warrant dated September 9, 2026.”
He added that the story attributed the order to a petition written by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Imo State, Barr. Chukwuemeka Ibejiako, to the Police and DSS respectively, dated October 8, 2026.
“We want to strongly state, and we stand to be contradicted, that no court, whether that of a Senior Magistrate or High Court, ordered or issued any bench warrant for the arrest of Okorocha.
“After 48 hours, if they are unable to produce or publish the court order, the onus will fall on the media establishments that were deceived into feeding the public with the false story to do the needful. And the needful is to retract the story and tender an apology.”
He noted that the report claimed the bench warrant was issued on September 9, 2026, whereas the Imo REC’s petition was dated October 8, 2026, meaning the court order allegedly came before the petition.
