Mussa Dankwah’s Latest Poll on 2028 Presidential Race Sparks Nationwide Debate Among Supporters

A survey by Global InfoAnalytics has generated fresh debate about Ghana’s 2028 presidential election, suggesting that four leading members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) could defeat former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in hypothetical head-to-head contests.

TV3 Ghana reported that the poll was conducted under the leadership of Global InfoAnalytics CEO Mussa Dankwah. It compared voter preferences for Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Haruna Iddrisu, Johnson Asiedu Nketia and Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang against Dr. Bawumia. Other political figures, including Alan Kyerematen and Kwame Bediako, were also considered in the broader survey.

Dr. Ato Forson recorded the highest support among the four NDC figures, with 55% against Dr. Bawumia’s 37%. He also received substantial backing from respondents in the highest-income category, with 72% support among those earning 100,000 or more.

Haruna Iddrisu secured 54%, putting him ahead of Dr. Bawumia, who received 38%. Meanwhile, Asiedu Nketia and Prof. Opoku-Agyemang each obtained 51%, compared with Dr. Bawumia’s 39% in their respective contests.

The poll indicated that income levels influenced voting preferences. Dr. Bawumia attracted stronger support from lower- and middle-income groups, whereas the NDC contenders performed better among higher-income respondents.

The results have prompted disagreement among political supporters. Some NPP members and sympathisers challenged the survey’s credibility, claiming that it favoured the opposition party. Others rejected the findings, while supporters of Global InfoAnalytics defended its record, citing earlier polls they believe accurately reflected election outcomes.

However, opinion polls are not conclusive forecasts of election results. Public preferences can shift in response to economic developments, government performance, political campaigns and other emerging issues.

With the next general election approaching in 2028, the findings have renewed debate over the NDC’s possible presidential candidates and the political competition likely to shape Ghana’s next presidential race.
