MUN VS ATM: Match Preview, Kick Off Time And Head To Head Record

According to a report by Sports Mole on Monday October 12, 2026, Manchester United will return to UEFA Champions League action on Tuesday when they travel to Spain to face Atletico Madrid in their second league-phase fixture of the 2026/27 campaign.

The highly anticipated encounter will take place at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium, with both European giants hoping to secure an important result as the competition gathers momentum.

Manchester United will enter the encounter hoping to rediscover their winning form after experiencing a difficult period in domestic competitions.

Michael Carrick’s side started their Champions League campaign impressively, recording a convincing 4-0 victory over Sabah in their opening fixture.

However, the Red Devils have struggled to maintain that momentum, failing to win any of their subsequent four matches across all competitions.

Their latest disappointment came against Tottenham Hotspur, where they were held to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford despite their opponents finishing the encounter with ten players.

Consequently, Carrick will be determined to guide his players back to winning ways when they face Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid will approach the encounter with considerable confidence following their impressive performances in recent domestic fixtures.

Diego Simeone’s side have recorded four consecutive victories, including an important 2-1 triumph over Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants also secured a 2-1 victory against Deportivo Alaves in their latest La Liga encounter.

Nevertheless, Atletico Madrid will be looking to recover from their disappointing Champions League opening fixture, which ended in a 2-1 defeat against Liverpool.

With Manchester United seeking another European victory and Atletico Madrid hoping to collect their first points of the campaign, Tuesday’s encounter promises to be competitive.

The Champions League encounter between Manchester United and Atletico Madrid is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

The match will take place at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, Spain.

Kick-off is scheduled for 8:00 PM Nigerian time, which corresponds to 8:00 PM in the United Kingdom and 9:00 PM in Spain.

Manchester United and Atletico Madrid have faced each other four times in major European competitions.

The Spanish club have enjoyed the better record, winning two encounters, while the remaining two matches ended in draws.

Manchester United are still searching for their first competitive victory against Atletico Madrid.

Their most recent competitive meetings came during the 2021/22 Champions League round of 16.

The first leg in Spain ended in a 1-1 draw before Atletico Madrid secured a narrow 1-0 victory at Old Trafford, eliminating Manchester United from the competition.

However, the Red Devils recorded a 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid during a preseason friendly played on August 1, 2026.

That result could provide additional encouragement for Carrick’s players ahead of Tuesday’s European showdown.

Manchester United will now be hoping to end their disappointing competitive record against the Spanish giants, while Atletico Madrid will aim to maintain their historical advantage and secure their first Champions League victory of the season.
