Man arrested after missing juvenile found safe in Adams County

ADAMS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – The Adams County Sheriff’s Office announced a man was arrested after a missing juvenile was found safe.

On October 11, 2026, Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said deputies responded to a home on Duck Pond Road regarding a missing juvenile.

Just before 1:00 p.m. on the same day, a deputy observed a red Chevrolet Camaro stopped along Lower Woodville Road. Patten said the deputy recognized the passenger as the juvenile who had been reported missing earlier that morning.

The driver was identified as Cortez Hunt, 23. Investigators said Hunt had reportedly picked up the juvenile in Brookhaven and transported her back to Adams County. They said a firearm was located inside the vehicle that had been reported stolen.

Hunt was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen firearm. He was transported to the Adams County Jail without incident.

The juvenile was safely recovered and transported to a juvenile facility.
