Limousine Hearse Carrying Body Of Late SAIG Lazarus Opicho Arrives At Friends Church Lang’ata

Emotional scenes were witnessed on Monday as a limousine hearse carrying the body of the late Senior Assistant Inspector General Lazarus Simiyu Opicho arrived at Friends Church Quarters in Lang’ata, Nairobi, for his requiem Mass.

Family members, friends and fellow security officers gathered at the church to pay their final respects to Opicho, whose death has brought together members of the security fraternity to celebrate his life and dedicated service.

The arrival of the hearse marked a solemn moment as mourners prepared to bid farewell to their departed colleague.

The service provided an opportunity for those who knew and worked with Opicho to reflect on his life, career and contribution to the security sector.

Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service Gilbert Masengeli was among the senior officials who attended the requiem Mass.

His presence underscored the significance of the occasion as colleagues and loved ones came together to honour the late officer.

The gathering also offered an opportunity for officers to stand in solidarity with Opicho’s family as they navigate the difficult period of mourning.

Following the church service, the funeral cortege was scheduled to proceed to the Security of Government Buildings and VIP Protection Unit (SGB), where officers were expected to pay their last respects to their departed colleague.

The ceremony highlighted the bonds shared among members of the security service, who often work together under demanding circumstances and come together to honour colleagues who pass away.

As mourners remembered Opicho, attention remained on his years of service and the memories he leaves behind among family, friends and fellow officers.
