Less Than Two Years Ago, The King Of Saudi Arabia Said, Sir, Your Country Was Dead — Trump

According to a video published by Fox News on Sunday, October 11, 2026, Trump made the remarks during a rally in Tennessee as he addressed supporters ahead of the upcoming midterm elections. He presented the alleged conversation with the Saudi monarch as an example of how foreign leaders viewed America less than two years ago.

Trump told the audience that several international leaders had expressed similar concerns about the United States at the time, identifying the Saudi king as the first to make such a statement. He contrasted those alleged remarks with his current assessment of the country’s position globally.

“Less than two years ago, this was [said] by every foreign leader. The King of Saudi Arabia, they all said, the King of Saudi Arabia is the first one… a short time ago, your country is dead,” Trump said.

He subsequently criticised former US administrations, mentioning Kamala Harris, Joe Biden and Barack Obama while arguing that a different electoral outcome would have had serious consequences for the country.

“If Kamala or Joe, Obama, any of those are all the same, if any of them got in, his country was finished. He would not have had a country,” he said.

Trump continued by recalling what he described as the Saudi king’s assessment of America’s situation before declaring that the country had become exceptionally attractive internationally.

“He said, sir, your country was dead, and [now we] are the hottest country anywhere in the world. We are the hottest country,” he added.

The video captions contained unclear sections, which were represented using brackets and an ellipsis to indicate uncertainty in the reported wording. Neither the Saudi king nor the Saudi government provided a statement in the video confirming Trump’s account of their alleged conversation.

During the rally, Trump also criticised the previous administration’s economic record, claiming it had left the country with exceptionally high inflation and energy prices.

He maintained that his administration had improved economic conditions by increasing incomes and reducing poverty to record levels. However, the speech did not independently establish the figures supporting those claims.

Trump further described the current period as America’s “golden age,” citing what he said were 84 all-time stock market records since the election and $21 trillion in investments flowing into the country.
