Jeep strikes stopped Subaru on Interstate 35, injuring four

Four people sustained injuries Sunday night, Oct. 11, 2026, in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 35 in Harrison County after a vehicle stopped following an earlier crash was struck by another vehicle. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 10:39 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 at mile marker 87.8.

The patrol reported that a 2025 Subaru, driven by a 40-year-old woman from Waukee, Iowa, was stationary following a previous crash and was partially blocking the passing lane.

A 2024 Jeep Compass, driven by a 25-year-old woman from Kansas City, Missouri, was traveling southbound in the passing lane when the front driver’s side of the Jeep struck the rear passenger side of the Subaru. Following the collision, the Subaru skidded off the east side of the roadway and into the median. The Jeep spun around, began skidding, and came to rest on the west shoulder of Interstate 35.

The Subaru driver sustained moderate injuries. Two passengers in the Subaru, a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy, both from Waukee, Iowa, were also injured. The girl sustained moderate injuries, while the boy sustained minor injuries.

North Missouri Emergency Medical Services transported the Subaru driver and both passengers to Harrison County Community Hospital for treatment.

The Jeep driver sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment at the scene.

The patrol reported that all four individuals involved in the collision were wearing seat belts.

Both the 2025 Subaru and the 2024 Jeep Compass were declared total losses. Schroff’s Towing removed both vehicles from the scene.

Sergeant B.R. Hilliard of the Missouri State Highway Patrol investigated the crash, with assistance from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, Harrison County Fire Department, and Bethany Police Department.

The patrol report indicated that the Subaru had been involved in an earlier crash but did not provide additional details about that incident.
