I Wanted To Succeed Wike,And He Called Selected Number Of Us At Night And Said I’m Stubborn-Pidomson
Dr Gabriel Pidomson, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Rivers State, has revealed that former governor Nyesom Wike asked him to step down from a governorship race because he considered him stubborn and difficult to control.
Pidomson made this disclosure during an interview on SYMFONI TV on Sunday, October 11, 2026, while discussing the Rivers 30-Year Plan and his past political relationship with Wike.
The ADC candidate said he had aspired to become governor of Rivers State and succeed Wike, but his ambition reportedly encountered opposition from the former governor on the eve of the party’s primary election.
According to Pidomson, Wike convened a meeting with a select group of aspirants the night before the primary and asked some of them, including him, to withdraw from the contest.
He said Wike’s reason for asking him to step down was his perception that Pidomson would not be easy to manage if he became governor.
“I aspired to become governor and succeed him, and in the night before primary, he called a selected number of us. I was one of the person he asked to step down that I’m not going to be manageable, that I’m stubborn,” Pidomson said.
The ADC governorship candidate’s account offers a glimpse into the political dealings surrounding the selection of a successor to Wike, who governed Rivers State from 2015 to 2023.
