Hearts coach Nebojsa Kapor raises concerns over pitch conditions at UG Stadium
Hearts of Oak head coach Nebojsa Kapor has raised concerns over the state of football pitches in Ghana following his side’s 1-0 victory over Port City FC in the Ghana Premier League.
Frank Duku Abora scored the only goal of the game in the 20th minute to end Hearts’ three-game winless run and hand the Phobians all three points at the University of Ghana Stadium.
Speaking after the match, the Bosnian questioned the perception that the venue belongs exclusively to Hearts of Oak, insisting that it is a national facility meant for all Ghanaians.
“Look at our ground. This is not our stadium; this is a national stadium. This is also a field for all Ghana people,” he said.
He furthered on by pointing to the lack of proper playing surfaces as a major concern for Ghana football but declined to discuss the issue further.
“Ghana football has a very serious problem with proper fields [pitches]. I am not going to talk about these things because I have a lot of obligations,” he added.
Hearts of Oak will now turn their attention to their next league fixture against Vision FC as they look to build on the victory and maintain their return to winning ways.
