Governor Makinde Picks Wolekanle as New Chief of Staff, Gives Adedayo Fresh Role

According to report by Vanguard on Monday, October 12, 2026, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has appointed Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, as the new Chief of Staff to the governor.

The governor also approved the appointment of Mrs Aderonke Adedayo as the Director-General of the Oyo State Due Process Office.

The two appointments take effect immediately, according to separate appointment letters signed by the Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.

Akinwole, a prominent grassroots politician, previously served as Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission before being appointed to his new position at the Governor’s Office.

Adedayo, on the other hand, currently serves as the governor’s Special Adviser on General Intervention and Donor Agencies.

She will retain that responsibility while taking on the additional role of Director-General of the Due Process Office.

In announcing the appointments, Governor Makinde congratulated both officials and urged them to approach their new responsibilities with dedication and a strong sense of duty.

The governor charged the appointees to serve the people of Oyo State with “loyalty, commitment, and dedication,” stressing the importance of delivering effectively on the responsibilities entrusted to them.

Makinde expressed confidence in their capacity and experience, noting that they would contribute meaningfully to the administration and the development of the state.

The latest appointments come as part of the governor’s efforts to strengthen the machinery of government and ensure effective coordination of his administration’s activities.

Akinwole is expected to work closely with the governor in coordinating affairs within the executive arm of the state government, while Adedayo will oversee due process matters alongside her existing assignment.

The governor further urged both appointees to remain focused and committed to the ideals of public service as they assume their new responsibilities.
