Ghana face Benin in their second Group A match on Tuesday, having opened the competition with a 1-0 victory over Togo.

Victory would guarantee the Black Starlets automatic qualification for the semi-finals, giving them an opportunity to move closer to their ambition of qualifying for the 2027 U17 Africa Cup of Nations.

Apam, a student at the GFA Elite Academy in Bolga, believes Ghana have not yet shown their full strength in the tournament. He described the squad as “little lions” waiting to make their impact felt.

“We’re little lions in this competition and we are yet to roar. We are determined to conquer any team that comes our way. We are in for nothing but a win against Benin tomorrow,” Apam Prince said.

The 1-0 win over Togo has placed Ghana in a strong position at the early stage of the group, but Benin will provide a different challenge after drawing 0-0 with hosts Burkina Faso in their opening fixture.

That result gave Benin one point and left them needing a positive outcome against Ghana to strengthen their own position in Group A.

Apam’s comments underline the confidence in the Ghanaian camp as the team attempts to build on its winning start. The winger said the Black Starlets were prepared to face any opponent standing between them and their objectives.

Ghana must now turn that belief into a performance against Benin, with qualification for the semi-finals within reach after only two matches.

The Black Starlets are competing in the WAFU Zone B U17 AFCON Qualifiers as they pursue qualification for the 2027 U17 Africa Cup of Nations.
